Your surgery will be personalized to your unique condition, and Dr. Westreich will help you determine which form of blepharoplasty will achieve the refreshed look you want. In some cases, he may recommend that you undergo both upper and lower eyelid surgery. In upper eyelid surgery, the incision is placed in the eyelid crease. In lower eyelid surgery, it is placed within the lower lid in most cases. Explore our website if you wish to learn more about upper eyelid surgery or lower eyelid surgery.

Upper Eyelid Surgery

Typically excess skin is removed to help re-define the upper eyelid crease. The length and specific contour of the incision is determined by the degree of extra skin and its position in relation to the eyelid itself. Minimal fat removal in the central aspect of the upper lid can also be part of the surgery.

Asian Eyelid Surgery

Having “double eyelids” has come to mark a significant aesthetic concern among Asian patients. Having single vs. double eyelids is a genetic trait, and affects about half of the Asian population. Restoring a defining crease in the eyelids can make the eyes appear noticeably larger and more dynamic.

Lower Eyelid Surgery

As the name suggests, lower eyelid surgery is directly targeted at the skin under the eyes. The procedure can be performed alongside upper eyelid surgery for more complete results.

Getting Started

The first step in undergoing upper eyelid surgery is to set up your private consultation in the comfort of Dr. Westreich’s NYC office suite. There he will examine your eyes, take note of previous cosmetic and/or medical procedures, catalog any medications you are taking, and begin to answer your most pressing questions and concerns about the procedure. Dr. Westreich will then formulate a unique treatment plan customized to your individual issues.

Testimonials

  • “I am a 58 year old female. I had severe drooping of my eyelids, especially my right eye. I could no longer wear eyeliner, shadow or mascara since the excess skin would just rub it off. I have known Dr. Richard Westreich for at least 9 years, since he performed surgery for my deviated septum. That went wonderful and I was very pleased with the results! I considered the eye surgery for a couple of years and went back to Dr. Westreich. My concern was not looking like myself after surgery since your eyes are so much of who you are. I want to age gracefully yet be the best I can be. Dr. Westreich understood immediately. My eyes are 100% improvement, open and bright... so exciting!”
